How can we help?
Search the knowledge base or browse by topic. Anything that needs a person, send to Bethany at bethany@aaim.com.
Accounts and balances
Linking, syncing, and what to do when a balance looks off.
How does Aaim sync my account data?
Aaim reads balances and positions through Quiltt for verified institutions. Sync cadence is hourly when a pledge is active and every four hours otherwise.
Why does an alternative-asset valuation lag?
Appraised collections, real estate, and other alternative assets are re-attested annually unless you mark them for accelerated review. The displayed value reflects the most recent attestation.
What if a connection shows an error?
Most errors resolve on the next sync cycle. If the error persists for more than 24 hours, remove and re-add the connection from Settings -> Linked accounts.
Pledging and capacity
How collateral is valued and how covenant ratios are derived.
What does "pledgeable" mean?
A pledgeable holding is one your financial institution may accept as collateral against borrowing. Aaim does not approve or fund loans -- the institution makes every credit decision.
How is pledgeable value computed?
Pledgeable value = market value x (1 - haircut). The haircut accounts for price volatility and liquidity risk. Aaim sums pledgeable values across eligible holdings to produce the totals shown on the New Pledge screen.
Why are some asset classes unpledgeable?
Each financial institution sets its own policy. Some asset classes (alternative funds, certain commodities, illiquid private holdings, many digital assets) are commonly excluded. The institution policy is final.
Security and sign-in
Two-step verification, recovery, and trusted-device review.
How do I enable two-step verification?
Two-step is required for every sign-in. It is enabled by default through the canonical Aaim identity provider; disabling it requires a member-services request.
What if I lose my device?
Reach Bethany at bethany@aaim.com or (212) 931-6500. Aaim revokes the device session, issues a recovery code, and walks through a fresh device enrollment.
Are my login credentials stored on Aaim servers?
No. Aaim authenticates through Google SSO via the Aaim Identity Provider. Quiltt connections use OAuth tokens; Aaim never sees institution-side credentials.
Statements and tax docs
Where to find statements and how to read line-level positions.
Where do statements live?
Monthly statements arrive on the first business day of each month and are always sent by email. The portal mirrors the same documents under Statements (institutional rollout).
Can I export to tax software?
Yes. Aaim emits PDF + machine-readable JSON. The JSON includes line-level positions for use in tax-prep tools.
About membership
What Aaim is, what it is not, and how to refer someone you trust.
What does Aaim do?
Aaim aggregates connected accounts, classifies holdings, computes pledgeable value, transmits pledge data to your institution with your consent, and monitors collateral over time.
What does Aaim not do?
Aaim does not originate loans, approve or deny credit, set interest rates, fund disbursements, or service loan payments. Those are functions of your financial institution.
Privacy and data
Your privacy ledger, third-party sharing posture, and data export.
What is the privacy ledger?
Every read, share, and analytic event tied to your account is written to your privacy ledger. The ledger is append-only and exportable.
Does Aaim sell my data?
No. Aaim does not sell member data and does not share it for advertising.
How do I request a data export?
Settings -> Privacy and data -> Request data export. Aaim emits a complete account history as JSON or CSV.
